    C8 Bolt

Is a C8 bolt the correct one for a 1903 Springfield SN 838,XXX (March 1918)? Is the C8 bolt safe to shoot?

    Sounds right to me!

Is the handle of the "straight" variety?

I believe the straight-handled "C8" bolt IS of the "double-heat-treat" variety . . . .and both SAFE and CORRECT for your serial number. --Jim
