Remington 1903A3 in Box w/ DCM Papers

Found one in the box with the DCM papers , wrap, in cosmoline today.... Its a Remington 03A3 with FJA, OG, and RA markings on the stock. It looks like all the cosmoline is still on most of it. The guy took some of it off to show it was mint and original...

Do any of you guys know what this is worth? I collect mostly 1911's so really don't know these very well... its in the 4043XXX range...

Could be $1,000-1,500, it really depends on how "original" the rifle is.

A papered rifle really needs evaluated.

Depends on your definition of original. The OG stamp means it was through Ogden Arsenal for inspection/rebuild. May or may not have had parts replaced. Cosmoline would indicate it was not re-issued. This is not a detraction. Still a fine rifle. Shoot the hell out of it and enjoy!

It appears that if a rifle or pistol went through one of the arsenals or armories it was stamped whether it got rebuilt or not, but the odds are much higher that it was rebuilt. You would need to do an evaluation of the rifle to see if it was rebuilt or still in original condition and just stamped. I have a Remington 03-A3 that is in unissued condition but has the OG stamp on the stock.

If you are looking for an 03-A3 to shoot, there is no need to pay a premium.

If you found a rifle with a high serial number and an unboxed "OG" stamp in the left butt, the statistical odds are very high that the rifle is new unissued. And your rifle certainly has a high serial number. And the "OG" stamp must be unboxed.

And if the rifle has the original DCM papers, please oblige us with the arsenal or depot that the rifle was shipped from as indicated thereon.

The "OG" is not boxed. the Arsenal = CO. Pueblo Ordnance Depot, Pueblo CO. 3-27-61. Purchase received 4-15-61.

I did not get it yet, its for sale at a shop...the guy wants $1800 for it... a few other guys think its worth about $1200 to $1500 max... what do you think ?

$1800 seems a bit stiff. $1200-$1500 is more in line with the current actual value.

If the rifle is new with the box and papers, then it's a good investment. In a few years, it will be worth the $1800. If you're looking for a shooter, however, keep looking.

I sold the same OG rifle in the box with army papers where the rifle was sold by the NRA in 1961 for $14.50. I got $1400 for it in Louisville.
