Winchester A5 Scope

[Marine A5 Sniper Rifle]

There will soon be a Winchester modified A5 scope and matching case for sale on eBay. I was asked to check it out, and it has some history. The scope was issued to one Pvt. William Wallace Ipson at GITMO in April of 1918, and Ipson attended the sniper course at OSD in May of 1918 - the 1st class. Ipson died in France in September of 1918, making him the only known OSD graduate sniper to have been in combat (at this point in time). It was previously thought none of the OSD Sniper School graduates made it to France in time to see action.

I have no financial interest in this scope, and I don't own it, and I have never met the owner. I wish I could afford to bid.
