My new 03A3 sporter, is it an original barrel?

I received this yesterday and it is a nicely done sporter. I would like to know if it has been re-barreled or is this an original barrel. I can find no markings on the barrel. I have checked around the front sight and I cannot see anything there.

Can some of you tell by the contour?

    Thank you, Malcolm

Welcome to CSP. You may have to take the action out of the stock and check on the underside of the barrel. There may be some markings there.

Jeff, Thank you. I did and found nothing on the barrel. I have been here for a year "lurking", but this is my first post. I have learned a lot about the 03/03a3's here. Malcolm

You may have an aftermarket barrel. As Jeff said, remove the action and see if you can locate any markings at all. Post a picture of the front sight, also.

From your picture, unless it's a reflection, it looks like it has the 03 rear sight sleeve pin slot at 2 o clock just ahead of the front scope mount on the barrel. If it does, it's an 03 barrel. If you pull the action from the stock and look at the bottom of the barrel a few inched ahead of the breech there may be the remanents of the cross pin that held the original rear sight sleeve on. Again, if yes, it's an 03 barrel.
