I was given a sporterized 03A3 bolt yesterday. Well, more correctly I was given what is left of an 03A3 bolt. The bolt was assembled but had the following issues: bolt face had a piece broken off, extractor gone, extractor collar was a twisted mess and the bolt sleeve was cracked.
I was able to salvage the striker, striker sleeve, the safety and the bolt sleeve lock. When I removed the bolt sleeve, the bolt sleeve lock was jammed with melted brass!
This bolt was likely wrecked in the '60's. Glad I wasn't there when it was happened, it couldn't have been pretty!
