Need info on my new 1903A1 and SRS request

I picked up this 1903A1 from a friend from his Dad's estate. His father had the rifle for years, but he wasn't sure how his Dad originally acquired it.

So, what do I have here? Original '03A1? '03 rebuild with a C stock? NRA rifle? NM rifle?

Barrel SA (flaming bomb) 4 -37
Star Gage marked muzzle
Small bolt parts marked "R" (no serial number on bolt)
Gas vent holes on left and right side of receiver

Metal is very nice. Near 100% blued finish
Stock is quite worn w/no visible cartouche
Pistol grip marked " RI" or "RH" (Hard to tell) behind trigger guard
Very faint serial on stock - D1836-4 or 01836-4
"SI" or "SJ" (I think) marked in cut for mag cutoff

Don't have SRS list to help out on that question. Would presume barrel and receiver are correct for each other. Bolt and rear sight to me are not correct. Could be a late "put together" or"inspected" at depot level which might explain the late bolt and rear sight? Very nice looking rifle regardless. Is the whole bolt "R" marked or just the parts shown? Another question is the action worked? It would be silky smooth in the white. The only reason I suspect the rear sight is replaced is color appears to be re-parked. None of these things detract from it being a "wonderful thing" in my opinion, which is strictly opinion and free of charge. Regards, John.

I haven't had the bolt apart. I'm not up on my nomenclature of all the bolt parts. The "triangular" piece near the striker (below the piece shown in the photo) is also marked "R". (Is that "R" for Remington?)

The bolt is blued. It is a very smooth action and very nice trigger though.

The bolt body, striker, bolt sleeve are all Remington made. Stock looks right for pre wwII and the cross bolts are stamped with a #. The rear sight looks like SA.

You do indeed appear to have a Springfield M1903A1 National Match rifle, and it appears mostly original. And as others have noted, it has a replacement bolt assembly in it.

Thanks, I appreciate the info. Pretty cool that it's likely a NM rifle. Kinda lucked into this one. I plan to sight it in and shoot it at the Springfield Match at Perry next year. I wonder how many times it's been there?

Btw, what is the significance of the crossbolts being stamped with a number? They both are marked "3" Is that something unique to NM rifles?

Not a NM thing, but a late 30's thing.
