    Help with 1903a4 please

Ok, this has been a disaster for years. I have a legitimate 1903a4 with m82 scope that has been a host of issues. I'm missing the front mount screw. There aren't any shims under the front of the mount. one of the scope caps is wrong. The scope had moisture damage so I sent it off to William Bill Biller about 3-4 years ago for repair. After years of not getting in touch with him I finally did recently. I just received the scope back back but he didn't include my rings. I let him know and I received rings today. As anxious as a fat kid in a bakery I took the rifle out the safe and went to mount the scope. The front ring is loose in the scope mount/slot. I'm not sure he sent me back the right rings. I don't even know if he still has the other rings or if these are legitimate rings. I'll try to post pictures of the rings later. To be honest, I don't even remember if it was loose before. Is this a common issue? Is there a fix? Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

The fit should be snug. Most builders/scope manufacturers recommend using a bar or tube of the proper diameter to twist the the front ring home before installing the scope. Is the scope noticeably loose after you install both rings and mount it on the rifle? If so some adjustment may be necessary. Possibly peening the front ring, the base or both or perhaps installing a real thin shim under the front ring (between ring and base).

    Pictures would help.

    Regards.
    Jim

i answered this post on another forum..said rings have been boogered by installing them in a modern base, with force,.
if it aint broke...fix it till it finally is.
