I picked up a rifle a while back that had all the parts common to a NM 1903A1. Even the Star gaged barrel that someone had so nicely shortened (C stock, everything else). I didn't give much thought to the bolt because it had "B2" on it and I assumed it was simply a replacement bolt, it is serialized to the rifle though, in uncommonly small numbers. Anyhow, my gunsmith was busy and I didn't want to bug him with a bunch of stupid questions (more of them). So here goes, what's the story on the B2 bolts, there's mention that they are hard to find and spendy?

Looks like they were made by SA in 1940. If a NM rifle, probably a replacement. If a USMC rifle ( they used leftover NM rifles for field service ) probably the one used when re-built.

B2 bolts were used at the end of production, and used by the USMC..and hard to find, and pricey..
all the B2 bolts iv had, dont fit very well in other rifles for some reason...
iv only had a few over the years.if it aint broke...fix it till it finally is.Comment

Pricey is right, in ePay there is a "B2" bolt body with extractor and collar, with a Buy Now price of $130.00.
