      Yikes, $550 starting bid?

I'm sorry I'm so old I can remember when that would have bought me the 'whole' rifle.

Indeed! It was in the last decade that I bought my first legitimate A4, a "Z" prefix in a "C" stock, complete with Weaver 330 in correct rings and base, for $500.00 at a gun show in Idaho Falls. I asked the fella selling it if he was sure about the price, and he replied that he knew what it was, and had brought it up from Salt Lake City to sell for a friend, who was "firm" on his price. I remember him sorta grinning a bit as I shook like a dog passing peach pits trying to get my wallet out of my pocket!

For a complete bolt with some signs of use its not really far off the mark. The '03 firing pin would be ok for an early A4 if the official TM's are anything to go by.
