Explain this 03 Mill Trigger Guard

Came across this 03 milled trigger guard. I cannot locate any marks on it. It does have the long trigger cutout. But the V notch cut in the front?? Who ever did it, did a great job. It is centered and tapered inside. Any ideas except for longer bullets??

I saw one like that once and was told it was the V-notch was for magazine clearance for one of the M1922 series of .22 rifles.

You are correct. I just checked my M1922 M2 and it has the same trigger guard. Thank you
