USMC front sight and modification to REAR sight

the slide on the USMC modified rear sight is different from a std 03, what was the hole dimension for the slide? and did there or was there any modification to the other part of the slide, the open V was it opened up more, when sighting in i almost think i need a larger aperture, I know since i changed out the front on my shooting 1903A3 scores went up at CMP and am shooting 289-293 range with Hornady ammo, the rifle has won senior division many times

I was able to obtain an original USMC front sight and I put it on a good shooting 1942 Remington 03, it shoots minute groups with lake city '68 ammo at 100 yards, with the original sights.

Yes, the U.S.M.C. rear sight slide is significantly different. The rear sight slide adopted by the U.S.M.C. had a .10" aperture, and no notches on the slide. No modification was made to the fixed battle sight notch. The front sight was designed to work with both the larger aperture on the new slide and to provide a 200 yard battlesight zero with the "U" notch fixed battle sight.

You might check out Maj. Culver's article on the U.S.M.C. modifications to the M1903 rifle which is posted as a "sticky" on this site. It has the rationale for the development of the sights, which had nothing to do with accuracy on the range.

don't know about that but using the wide fat usmc sight on my 1903a3 have managed to shoot three cleans at 200 rapid
and want to try (what i think is more accurate) Remington 1903 from 1942, it hammers at 100 with sub minute groups and all i have done is add the front sight and use the original slide but darn if it aint small, hard to pick up in rapid fire
