    D.A.L. cartouche unboxed, fake?

Found an 03 stock finger groove, that all looks good to replace scant on my 1918 03. My books don't mention any unboxed DAL cartouche. Think this is a fake? Thanks

They the "large" DAL letters? Not the size of the "boxed" one?

I saw one that was legitimate on a (of all things) a Remington M1903 that had been fitted with a Springfield stock. John B. said the DAL was legitimate.

Yes, compared to the book they are much larger than the DAL in rounded corner box.

There's also the large font style "S.A. D.A.L." Cartouche. See http://www.cowanauctions.com/auction...?ItemId=102358 for an example.

The unboxed "D.A.L." you describe on the Remington with a Springfield stock was legitimate because it was the remains of an "S.A.D.A.L.", the front half of which had been worn or sanded away.
