Odd R-marked 03A3 Sling Swivel - see photo

Came across this 03A3 sling swivel that has be stamped with a serifed "R" instead of the plain unserifed "R" that I've become accustomed to seeing on these and other Remington manufactured parts.

Would this serifed R be a Remington variation or perhaps the mark of a subcontractor, or does it appear to be a fraudulent stamping?

    Seasons' Greetings!

I don't quite know what to make of your swivel. The swivel looks like it may be a Smith-Corona swivel. But I can't be certain. The serifed "R" appears overstamped atop another letter. But I am not aware of any other lower band swivel having a letter stamping. One explanation is that the original "R" stamping was defective and a worker at the Remington factory re-stamped it. The only other reasonable explanation is fakery or restoration.

    Hope this helps. Merry Christmas!

      an observation.
grinder marks on the loop, as well as an over stamp. and blue inside the stamp, no burnishment around the stamp.
i vote done by someone other then Remington or the U.S. Military
if it aint broke...fix it till it finally is.
