I've never seen an "E" sight either. Hard to scale from the pictures, but it actually looks taller rather tall. I would expect it to be just .477" tall if it follows the .015"/letter sequence of the A, B, C, and D. For reference the "A" blade is .537" tall.Comment

I believe that cocking piece could be a Springfield 1905 era Type 1. Notice that it has no radial grooves on the knob. I can't imagine someone making one aftermarket. I'm going by memory. I've collected almost all the variations of knobs, but not this one.
