Were the Keystone C Stocks from WW2 made for both the 1903A1 or just 03-A3?

I have been told they exist but have never seen one---that is a Keystone without the A3 cut for the A3 handguard ring. That would answer your question for me, however the ring cut works with a plain 03 so maybe they were all cut?You can never go home again.Comment

All WWII Keystone stocks were cut for the M'03-A3 handguard ring. The stocks are fully interchangeable between the M1903 and M'03-A3 rifles, i.e., they will fit either one.

Thanks gents, I found one in great shape for a M1903A1 USMC Sniper build, and was just curious. I'm not sure if any USMC 1903A1 Snipers from the war would have used a Keystone stock, but from the pictures I've seen of the variety of USMC snipers from the war (C stock, S stock, Scant stock) it appears it was more of what was available than specifics.Comment

In addition to the cut-out for the handguard retaining ring, the exterior dimensions of the Keystone C-type stock were slightly different than the pre-WW2 Springfield C-type stock. While very similar in appearance, the Keystone is noticeably chunkier around the wrist and pistol grip area when you handle them side by side.Cheers,

Agreed, mine is very chunky around the pistol grip area. I'm pretty close to having the rifle put together sans scope, so I can take it out and see how well it groups in standard form. If it is up to the task, I will go ahead and complete the project.Comment
