If you don't get it right the first time, try the 2nd ... and the 3rd ...

Practice make's perfect, sometimes. I like that R in the cutoff, that took some orginal thinking.

What a shame...it looks like a nice stock otherwise. What was the guy thinking...one cartouche=good, three cartouches=better? Reminds me of a Remington-UMC M1911 I was offered once. Somebody had done an absolutely magnificent finish restoration...a really perfect job of brush-bluing. Apparently the inspector's initials ended up washed out, for they had been re-cut. Only problem was, instead of the correct "E.E.C.", the restorer had cut "F.F.V." I passed on it; kind of wish I had bought it now.

darn rare stock to have been inspected all those times.

And to have escaped any sign of use between those myriad inspections. Truly amazing.

I was so awed by all the untouched original cartouches, that I almost missed the gorilla glue oozing out where the forend was spliced back on.

                      Snort.
                      Cheers,

                          A P.T. Barnum disciple, perhaps?

                          Just a thought.
