    1903 SRS Check Please

Just saw a 1903 Springfield at a show. Has the serial number of 1523427. Wonder if anybody with the SRS books could check the SN and see what gives.

This one had a lyman sight on the right side a checkered stock with a semi opaque Ivory colored grip cap that is not standard. The stock had no cartouches and a very nice monte carlo cheek piece on it. The seller says its a Sporter made by a marine armorer. I know its a military reciever and barrel but Is it a real sporter or just a sporterized rifle?

    We have a "hit"!

    1523427A1NM 39DCM RIFLE SALES 1922-42

It started out as a military style National Match M1903A1 and apparently, from your description, was sporterized somewhere along the way.

Bob- Nice seeing you at the "Barnyard" yesterday. Maybe I will get a chance to see, the rifle in question, at the next gun show in town?

Value will depend on how much "originality" is left. Finish? Barrel star marked? Original parts?
