    Sedgley 9-41 USMC barrel

After searching for a very long time, I finally got my hands on a Sedgley USMC barrel from the first batch they made. Unfortunately it appears it was used on a sporterized rifle, with the user having thoroughly sanded it down to bare metal- and in the process nearly removing the plumber's table marks, which barely are evident. Other then that, it is in very good shape with a bright bore that has good rifling.

I'm going to get it parkerized, and after that I'm not sure if I will use it on one of my USMC 1903s or start another build from scratch project.

'Tis indeed a barrel from the first batch Sedgley made. T'ain't many of those around! You might want to verify that the breech has not been turned down before you get too far.

Thanks JB, would that be a job for a gunsmith, or something I could figure out on my own? I'm not too familiar with that.

If you have a rear sight fixed base (collar), slide it onto the barrel. If it fits snugly, you're good to go. If it fits loosely, then some creative shimming will be necessary.

        Hope this helps. Good Luck!

6th MARDIV, I sent my request to the group.

RCS, that is about as USMC WWII rebuild as the come. Nice rifle!

I guess I never thought about it much as far as the first issue of Sedgley barrels. I wonder what was the first month in 41 they were produced? I have a 8-41 Sedgley Barrel on a 1903A1 that has 6 traits of a USMC rebuild, that is why I ask.

RCS, your Marine 1903 is in good company in the SRS.

I'm pretty sure I have seen a 7-41 USMC Segley, and the latest of the first batch being a 4-42.
