1913 RIA - logwood and linseed?

Would a logwood stain with a linseed finish be correct for a 1913 RIA in otherwise near totally original state?

The seller told me the wood was dry when he got it so linseeded it but the colour of the wood is light brown, not red tint at all now.

I have logwood stained a couple SA stocks before, and one repro Boyd;s stock I completely contour etc corrected, but not sure if RIA was logwood and linseed (I presume RIA used linseed like SA,since Tung Oil was not used till WW2).

I have a pound of genuine logwood powder remaining... should do it I would think Just don't want to do it unless RIA definitely "logwooded" their stocks. Brophy mentions it, but cannot recall if he was SA specific (my copy of Brophy is SOMEWHERE after moving house)

RIA 1913 stocks do indeed have a reddish color.

      Thanks John.

Picked the rifle up today - more later - the VERY good, the ugly, and the unexpected.

            On an Afghan too. Soon

The bolt I always felt was a straightened Rem bolt... IS EXACTLY THAT! NOT HAPPY about that!!! Thank god I have a couple straight bolts coming. The rest is pretty much original though. A simply GORGEOUS rifle.

See my drooling prose on LN M1903s as "lookers" on my thread on my recent purchase of #477541!

Tung oil would be correct for the period.

I disagree - Tung Oil was correct from 1942 onwards only. Linseed was used up til 42 as far as I can find in all research.
