Bolt should be marked on the underside of the handle root. The bolt sleeve should be marked. Both "R" stamps should be upper case but may be different sizes.
Sounds like you did well. Please publish some more details or post photos.

    Regards,
    Jim

Jim, speaking of A4 bolt parts, did any of the early ones have the R marked extractor with the small.gas hole?

      Thanks

Kurt, possibly some 03 extractors with the right side gas escape might have been used on early A4's. TM 9 270, the first TM issued for the A4, has a photo of an early model with an 03 firing pin so i wouldn't rule out other bolt parts (as original or replacements).

        Regards,
        Jim

I thought the vent hole was eliminated before Remington ever started production.

Thanks guys. Just curious as I found an A4 bolt with an extractor with the hole. No idea if it was original.

all A4 bolts have a large gas hole.. no bolt stop detents, and will be marked R...with a stamped extractor ring.
if it aint broke...fix it till it finally is.

I think he was asking about the extractors with the hole in them?

Thank you John. It came out of a sporterized Mark 1 so was uncertain. The guts were Springfield so it was of mixed pedigree, ie. a mutt.
