Could someone please tell me if a 1903 Springfield rear band spring is identical to a Krag carbine band spring? Thanks.

That might be because the model 1855 band spring was something that was continued through following models like the 1855 Springfield trigger guard screws. They later became the small butt plate screw on a 1903 Springfield. I think that that particular screw might've even started out as a TG screw on the model 1816 US musket.Last edited by Fred; 11-22-2014, 02:01.Comment

I also have substituted the 03 and A3 lower bands with the M1917 band, and switching out the sling loops.Comment

Well, while I am certain that they won't interchange, the Band Spring on the M-1 Carbine is the same design as the Band Springs that held the upper barrel band on the U.S. Model 1795 Musket, the M1816's, the M1841 Mississippi Rifles and the M1842 Muskets!Comment

Not sure what screw you are talking about on the M1 (garand) but if is the butt screw that was changed. They made the slot wider in 1941. It is in Gas Trap book... just another data point to check to see if your earlier garand has not been tinkered with...Comment
