    1903A4 Clone

    Hey guys,

Just recently finished about 99% my 1903A4 Sniper clone. The best part all investments including having it drilled and tapped was right around $500.

I am having one last problem. The Scope and Mounts I got on sale from OWS said it was positioned higher so you don't need a low swept bolt for it to clear the scope. When I finally put my Weaver scope on it, the bolt handle just BARELY scrapes the bottom of the adjustment ring on the scope.

I tried putting a converted 1903A4 bolt from OWS as well but it wont close in the action without a cutout on the side of the stock like on the true 1903A4 stocks.

I'd like to not alter the stock because it's a gorgeous 1903A3 scant stock. So should I just take a small amount of the bolt handle off with the grinder so it clears the scope more easily? Or is there another more recommended method?

Snipe rifles and their clones are new to me.

      Modify the 'cheapest' component.

Snce it is scant stock I would just make the relief cut in the stock. Now if it were an original C stock I wouldn't touch it but an otherwise plain jane scant stock wouldn't bother me.

Here is a pic of my former 03-a4 "C" stock. Notice how the original owner "fixed" it for me saving me the trouble. The rifle is a tack driver though.

I had my gunsmith relieve the bolt handle,He contoured it and polished it.I touched up the glueing and it looks great.Much easier and cheaper...
