Late 1903 Remington on GB auction

This Remington caught my attention and so did the final bid price in excess of $1500. The photos are not the best, but that didn't seem to bother bidders in the least.

The rifle has been overhauled, refinished, and re-assembled from mixed parts.

I'm pleased to see it fetch that much. I wonder how much a nice original would fetch?

That '03 is in mighty nice shape. I don't think I would pay that much for it.

Maybe it's me but the stock looks like a scant that has been modified to straight grip

+1 on the scant to straight modification.

It appears that the wrist has been trimmed down a bit leading up to the Comb of the stock.

$1000 will buy a very nice, real 1903 Remington. I, too, was turned off by this rifle and did not follow it. There is a sucker born every minute, they say.
