    Holiday Chuckle

No connection or intended malice, but these auctions made me smile. Hope you all had a nice Christmas!

Love the first line of the description... I'm guessing several folks have tried to help.. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=458673902

ON the first rifle....despite what the seller claims in his description...YES, THE REAR SIGHT IS ON BACKWARDS!!!!

[Maybe having the rear sight on backwards is some "fad" that has swept through the ranks of the Sporterized 03A3 crowd I am not familiar with.]

Ahhh yes - pawn shops. Normally, they have CRAP, but, also remember that, like Sgt. Schultz, many of them know nothing. That is why an aquaintance of mine picked up an $8,000 M1881 .45-80 long-range trapdoor in Florida last year for 10 cents on the dollar. Ya gotta look at every ad.

I used to check the pawn shops around here every week or so. Never found a bargan and everything was over priced.

Like gun shows, go to 10, 'may' buy at one. But its cheap entertainment when retired.

That's me, too, Dave. Sometimes, I wish I had the time to check at yard sales, pawn shows, etc. but being retired is hardwork!!

Well, I've found some serious bargains at the local pawns. In Cheyenne, I found a .38-44 Heavy Duty S&W, picked it up, with holster, for $175, marked as a Model 10. In Blackfoot, a 1903A4, marked "03A3" on the tag, and said it was a .308....$250, OTD. Several 03's, including a Mk I with ALL the unique pieces installed, in a cut-down, butchered Mk I stock. Ya just gots to keep at it, and the buys will surface!!!!
