Where did you get this one from? I'm trying to find one of them for a few years now.

So, you have to remove the front sight to put the bolt on to secure the silencer??

Yes. Then insert the two tapered sleeve halves under the nut before threading it onto the coupler that the tube threads into. Though the tube and coupler are cut, the nut and presumably the sleeves are intact. $3,000.00 is an awful lot of money for a tightening nut.

There was a company that used to make that model. They were U.S. Firearms Company. They were selling them to legal collectors for some amount that didn't seem very much at the time to me. I can't remember exactly what. The company is gone now.

The total cost for one of these to go on a 1903 rifle was like $89.00 shipped from Ontario Canada I seem to remember This was in the late 1980's and even then I thought it was a bunch of money! The company dropped the price I believe to $99.00 plus shipping , then they went out of business If I remember correctly ! I believe they wee advertised in Shotgun News but It is a long time ago for an item that I thought was too expensive for a display!

Thanks for the link. I do want one, but not for $3000 - hell, is he crazy? This isn't even an original Maxim silencer.

I would imagine that it'd be tough for you to even import one there if you ever found one. I believe that they were sold here openly to the public until sometime in the 1920's until the Government passed laws against civilians owning Thompson Guns and Silencers. It was because of the Gangsters I think.

I'd be allowed to legally own silencers, but a cutaway of course is even legal to the public. I also have a fully fuctional Welrod pistol since the OSS used them aswell in WWII. Funnily, that one came from an US soldier and was sold off before he turned back home from military service in Germany.

Sure looks like one I got a real close look at a couple of years ago at the Gunshow in Orange County, the owner let me take it off the barrel and I took it over to the ATF guys and showed it to them. Funny they thought it was an operational one until I turned it over and showed them the cutaway side. They thought it was cool.
