    1907 Leather sling

I may be very ignorant here but what are the functions for both the keepers on a leather sling. I have seen where one will cover the hooks but where is the second used?

They "keep" the sling in place. Neither goes on a hook except in a shooting sling configuration.

When assembled the correct military way, the sling can be adjusted for length, from taut (parade) to loose for sling carry without repositioning the hooks.

The video shows the USMC rifle team way of using the sling for competition where the keepers are used to lock the loop into position. There are several other methods.

Thanks guys for the info. I did read somewhere where the keeper was used to cover the hook, keeping it in place but I guess that was wrong.
