W.T.&B.CO 1918 sling

I found this sling among some WW1 slings that I had put aside awhile back. It looks so new that I wonder if it is a repro ?
The hook is brass with a gray color covering the brass.

I picked one out of a box in Tulsa several years ago that looks just about the condition of yours. The seller was setting up and the sling was in a box of assorted junk. I have no reason the believe that it is not original.

Very nice sling with excellent original condition too. The higher condition examples such as this one are increasing in value quite rapidly as of late.

Try to control the verdigris as much as possible. It is a result of the tannic acid in the leather reacting to the brass on the sling. You can't stop it as it is coming out from under the brass, but keep as much as you can cleaned off with a toothpick. Don't brush is, as it will go into the leather and can't be cleaned out as it is very waxy. I have a few pieces of leather that the verdigris has pushed the brads out of the leather. It is relentless.

On another note, it is also poisonous.
