    Hatcher Hole

I know the reason for the Hatcher Hole on early 1903's and that the Marine's used them on all there rebuilds. I have seen a couple 1903A3 with Hatcher Hole was this done by the Marine's? thanks

All M1903A3s had Hatcher holes; they replaced the smaller gas escape holes found on the right side in earlier M1903s.
