Springfielsd 1922 .22 cal

Can anyone tell me what date did Springfield change from bluing to parkerizing on the model 1922 series of rifles ? Thanks

If you see enough Springfield 22's you will know there is quite a bit of variation in the finish on even the early 1922's. The best answer to your question is probably 1932 with advent of the M2. These rifles will have a black appearing parkerization that is very distinctive. I have seen a number of 1922 M1 service rifles that appear to have a dull blue finish, though. The more gray or green parkerized finish seen on a lot of 22 cal Springfields are the result of rebuilds either at Springfield or other armories, ie Benecia or ?
