Everyone thanks so much for the help.

I may have put the wrong bolt in the rifle. But At least I have most of the major parts. Not finished with it but I'm getting closer. You all offering help along the way has been a life saver!!

As far as the NZ marked stock wouldn't that take the value down from a standard RLB stock? Since it was sent over seas post WWII?

The NZ stamp means it was sent to New Zealand DURING WWII, not after.

Wouldn't that be a less desirable cartouche? Or am I lucky it doesn't hurt the value.

Beautiful restoration! That New Zealand stock in a fairly rare item.

Give the Kiwis credit...at the end of the war, they returned the '03 Remmies we had loaned them, rather than dumping them in the ocean like some other Allied nations I can name.

Honestly being a younger guy and overly eager with little experience and knowledge it is mostly possible from sites like this one. If this was the pre-internet ages I'd be utterly lost and without the necessary information and guidance. Everyone is so friendly and helpful makes projects like this less frustrating and more fun!

The NZ stock is an asset to the rifle. Leave it on there. While the rifle falls outside the serial range for most NZ rifles, it is a correct stock for the rifle and some NZ rifles do indeed exist beyond that serial number.

While a 3-position bolt sleeve would be correct for your rifle, finding one will be a significant challenge. Settle for a two-position sleeve with vertical milling striations on the side and abrupt non-tapered ends for the safety lock plunger runway. And you will need a safety lock with serifed letters on both sides and no drain hole in the outer edge.

Welcome to Remingtons, where design and manufacturing changes occurred daily!

              Hope this helps. Good Luck!

              J.B.

This is the rifle you need for this stock:

                http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=494576446

The last for digits of the SN are 7661 and your stock is 7667!

(The auction has ended so I think it is OK to post a Gunbroker Link)

Sleeve looks to be 03A3 as is the much later barrel.

The barrel is not correct. I think I need a 4-42 barrel. If I find one, that would be great. If not I won't lose sleep over it. It was enough of a headache finding a Remington 03 bolt and RLB stock. Not to mention the other small Remington parts.

As it's been said... To each his own...
And you have done very well with finding the correct parts as you have done so far...
But don't give up your only half done... Find that bbl.. and make it all correct..
                        Good luck.................
