It depends on the serial number range."We make men without chests and expect from them virtue and enterprise. We laugh at honor and are shocked to find traitors in our midst."

A large bow trigger guard would be correct for your 4.7mil Smith-Corona. A trigger guard manufactured for Smith-Corona will be unmarked. A Remington TG will have a small
"R" on the back surface of the magazine box. Someone else will have to comment about the serial number range for the large bow Remington TGs.Comment

Another characteristic is the raised "curved" metal around the forward tang screw of the TG."We make men without chests and expect from them virtue and enterprise. We laugh at honor and are shocked to find traitors in our midst."

The 3,4XX,XXX serial number range encompasses the entire first purchase of M1903A4 rifles. Remington Magazine box assemblies with both small and large trigger guard bows were used on A4's in the first order. Small bow guards tended to appear on early production and large bow guards on later production.
As mentioned before the SC magazine has the the semi-circular boss stamped into the metal around the forward guard screw. Remingon magazines had a simple, straight reinforce stamped in the same spot. The first order of business is to get the SC magazine on the SC rifle and the Remington magazine on the A4.
Many of these rifles were rebuilt over the years and parts were swapped. Pictures which show the finishes would help a lot.Last edited by jgaynor; 05-09-2015, 08:59.Comment
