I'm fishing, are these just generic rack numbers or do they have any known meaning? It is on a Remington non-fingergroove stock with no A3 cut. I'm assuming they are just markings but I would hate to not know if they are interesting. Thanks in advance.
Stock Rack Numbers

I always wondered the same thing.
Even my M91 Westinghouse (that's US surcharged) has a tack number on the stock. -
It might possibly be this if I read it correctly as DD over 145................
Otherwise, just a rack number from somewhere it was once in use.Comment

As Steve stated, the ones I have seen associated with the Navy are stamped in the wood. That is why I did a quick search for DD 145 earlier. The majority of "rack numbers" I've seen have just been painted, on the surface of the wood, freehand or stencil, which would make it simpler to change when necessary.Comment
