To flute or not to flute...

    That is the question

Just about to replace the stoofed RSFB on my Mark 1 Farnkenfield - Mark1 action, Keystone C, pre-war handguard, Rem 4-43 4 groove barrel. The RSFB on there now is NON-fluted, but I obtained a Remington '03 fluted one AND a Remington 03 Modified round one.

Which was would you go, bearing in mind there really isn't much historically significant left in this rifle - just rebuilding it as a range rifle.

The Rem. fluted RSFB's are rather ugly (poor milling), so thinking to go round...

Meh - I went with the round (non-fluted) RSFB (collar... I always muck up the terminology)

Installed just fine - I reamed out the collar a few shaves, and drove it on the last 1/2" with a copper pipe. Looks like it has been on there for 50 years - the match in finish is VERY similar.
