My Mistake. The rifle on the right is the Sedgley, not an M2. I don't have a photo of the butt of the M2 but will take one and post it if that would help.

I have taken a photo of the M2 butt plate to correct the record. Sorry.

EriCal, this is the standard 1903 fine checkered plate used briefly before WWI and again postwar.

I believe the pictured butt-plate is INCORRECT for the M2 . . . .Although it is a "screw-on" exchange!

The correct plate looks VERY similar, but has NO trap door and the checkering is much COARSER! --Jim

Yes Dick, He is now in Globe Arizona. Moved out of Glendale a couple of years ago.

Thanks Randy A, Previous owner removed plate and used rubber slip on which stuck to the safe floor while turning to mush.

I've heard some limbsavers are doing this and if you call limbsaver, they will replace it.
