    X marked sear and trigger

This may have been covered in past threads. What does an "X" mark on a trigger and sear indicate? I have an X marked trigger with an R marked sear and a lone X marked sear. I was told they may be Smith-Corona parts as the SC bolts have a faint X mark. I did not check Brophy to see what he might say about these marks.

    Seasons' Greetings!

The "X" is actually a stylized "H", which identifies the parts as having been made by the Hadley Special Tool Co., a WWII Army Ordnance spare parts contractor. The parts have no connection with Smith-Corona.

Hope this helps. Happy New Year!

Thanks John for your usual expertise in all obscure Springfield rifle items.
