    1903 Springfield Magazine Box Question

I found in my parts can a 1903 magazine box/trigger guard I thought about using for my son's rifle that doesn't group well at all. This box is different and has about a 7/10 inch deep V in the front and about a 1/10 inch deep rectangular recess at the top of the rear of the box. Does anyone know what I have? It looks quite different from the magazine box that came with the rifle. I was looking to have one of these assemblies measured for possible contact with the receiver when I noticed the differences.

    Thank you!

Sounds like one for the .22 M2 rifles. The "V" notch at the front is clearance for the .22 magazine. The .22's used a different floorplate, but a standard '06 floorplate will also fit.
