From a post on another forum, I assume the lower number is a Rock Island.

No match for either, although the higher number is in the area of a bunch of receiver sales.

WOW that's great info. I might be getting another one that has lyman sights and I am trying to figure out if they were put there by the service or by someone else along the way.
If it has the peep sight on the back would it have a different sight on the front? I ask because I think the front sight look pretty normal?? I will have pics soon

Thanks cpl I will follow up. also I have a chance to get the SN1511565 but its 1500$ ?? The seller seems to think it is really rare because of the build year and the number of rifles built in that year??
