    From a post on another forum, I assume the lower number is a Rock Island.

    No match for either, although the higher number is in the area of a bunch of receiver sales.

                  Thank you for posting that! It's exactly what I figured it would look like.

                  A lot of us have the old SRS books from back in the day, so we can look them up. But here is what is close to your rifle.

                  But very nice!

                    WOW that's great info. I might be getting another one that has lyman sights and I am trying to figure out if they were put there by the service or by someone else along the way.
                    If it has the peep sight on the back would it have a different sight on the front? I ask because I think the front sight look pretty normal?? I will have pics soon
