Unmarked bolt release spring rest FYI

I just rec'vd. the above item. I've been looking for a W rest for some time. I noticed on m1903.com under M1917 parts markings that they list W and also "unmarked" for W rifles. There is a eagle mark only in the slot and the best my mag. glass can do is 427 under it. I note that in Harrison's book, The American Enfield, he lists some of the SA Eagle's Head marks for Win. as 404,408,421 and 424 - none of which are mentioned as being on this piece. There are no other marks on it. If this is correct, all I need are the correct hand guards, the follower and it's spring. Not kidding myself though - the parts are in different finishes and it's a L. Lease rifle - just fun to search for W parts. Been burned a few times too.

    FCPDAVE--

I have one similar to yours with no "W" just the eagle with 422 stamped underneath the eagle. The bolt release spring rest came off of a "Winchester" 1917 receiver.

Thanks for the info. Maybe my 427 is really a 422.

In looking in C.S. Ferris' book, only winchester had inspection #s in the 400 ranges
