    P17 Swivel Alignment

I just assembled a fully field stripped Remington 7-18 P17 for a buddy out of a "bag-o-subassemblies" and have a question. I know my SMLE's pretty well but P17 is new to me.

The stacking swivel, front band and rear sling all have a offset to them. Do the long sides all go to port or starboard? (rifle facing up, muzzle away.)

    Thx in advance

Starboard. That way the sling doesn't interfere with the volley sights installed on the left side of the receiver....which were never installed on the M1917 in the first place.

        Note he said M1917 not P17. It's a model of 1917.

I'll admit I still use P17 on occassion, but usually try to correct myself before I open my mouth!!

Yes I know it's like beating a dead horse. In another life I was a course developer and instructor and correct terms were important to me.
