    M1917 Rear Sight Differences

In replacing an Eddystone rear sight that had the battle sight "peep" removed, I got a replacement part from Numrich; come to find out "E" sights are slightly longer than "W" or "R" versions. Wouldn't be a problem except that the "E" sight covers up the charger slot! Anyone know why this difference exists???

Just measured the length of the ladders of two E's against an R. They all appear to be a hair under 2 & 3/16". They're on the guns and none cover the charger slot. Are the ladders on P-14's longer?

      Yep.
      P14 - 2.43 inches long
      M1917 - 2.16 inches long

Another clue is that P-14 sights have serial numbers stamped on them.

Numrich is good at substituting small parts you order. Sometimes their sub isn't such a good thing.
