    A Question About 98k Slings ......

I have purchased a variety of repro 98k slings in an attempt to find specific year dates. All of the slings I have purchased are about 56 inches in overall length. I just purchased another sling that is only 48 inches in length but the seller says it is as an original with respect to length. Does anyone know the correct overall length of a 98k sling? If it is not 48 inches, is there another German weapon that used a 48 inch length sling? And does anyone know of a source for variously dated correct length repro slings? Thanks!

47"-48" is correct for a WWII issue sling. The 56" I would guess only has two holes for the keeper? They are almost certainly post war Austrian Stg slings. They look the part, and make great 98k slings considering a real, original WWII 98k sling averages $100 or more a pop anymore...

I have not seen any re-pro K98k slings but I would imagine they are all dated and marked the same. Other re-pro slings are.

I read somewhere that the longer slings were intended for g/k-43's.

I appreciate the helpful comments. I have done some other looking since I first posted my question and found several other sources that stated the 98k sling length was 56 inches and the 48 inch slings werre for the MP38/40 SMG. I suppose some level of controversy is inevitable. Thanks again.
