There have been a lot of conversions some more odd than others...The Turks built a bunch of 8mm Mauser rifles on SMLE actions. I don't know if I'd want to shoot one of those, especially with Turk ammo but the Turks did and apparently lived to tell. I've wondered whether some of these conversions were worth the trouble but obviously the governments that had them built thought so.
