Hogue stock experience?

I have a K98 action with a Parker Hale sniper barrel chambered for the .308. The barrel is close to 1" at the muzzle ( ~.9" ). I want to install a Hogue sporter stock #98002 full BB. Anyone have any experience with these stocks as far as knowing if the stock will "open up" to this type barrel?

Additionally, these type Hogue stocks are referred to as "over molded". They are made of a soft rubber (like their pistol grips) over a rigid frame.

I tried a Hogue Overmold stock for a ruger 10-22. It didn't fit worth a hoot. If you try to grind out the stock to get the clearence you need you get into the fibre glass core. I'd look for a laminated wood stock or all fibre galss.

I have a Hogue on a 98 Mauser sporter and love it. The fit and easy grip feel make it comfortable and easy to grasp.

you might ask/private message chuckindenver about them. He's a very well regarded gunsmith who hangs out over on the 1903 & 1917 boards here. If he has no experience with them, he'll tell you that too.Chuck has specialized in the old militay stuff, so he might just know.

Hogue makes good revolver grips, several policemen I know have them on duty guns.
