Question on K98k with the Mauser banner on the receiver ring

I was at the Reno gun show yesterday, and a dealer had a Russian capture Kar 98k. It had a new stock, the barrel bands were the stamped late war type. The bolt and floorplate were also mismatched. The barrel was serial numbered to the rifle.
The receiver had the Mauser banner nicely stamped on the receiver ring. It also had Waffenamt 655 on the receiver ring, barrel, and rear sight. I'm wondering if it started life as a Mauser banner rifle, that was then turned into a Wehrmacht rifle. The waffenamt 655 is listed as being used at Mauser between 1938 and 1940.
The seller wanted $450 for the piece I was out of money so it stayed on his table.

Has anyone seen another rifle like this one?

I have one of these, however it is not a RC, but rather an all original matching example. Many theories exist on these as far as Banner instead of a code. According to the barrel and stock codes it was made in 1941. Cup butt plate, blued bayo lug, 12" rod. serial is 5495hh (secound run thru the letters). I have seen a RC #2844hh and have heard of couple others in the same hh range. I picked it up years ago when the average K98k was going for less then 50 bucks. Paid 300 for it! Thought that was waaay too high but had to have it! No import marks and about 95%.

The Mauser Banner stamped receivers were rifles that were originally made for the German Postal service but within the Mauser Works it's was a camouflage for all of the rifles which were delivered to political formations such as the SA or the SS from 1934 onward.

Do you have documentation for that or just theory??? The Banner K98k's are not dated but the Postal rifles are! They would have been stamped at the same time, most likely (theory).
