    BYF-43 Stock Marking

I picked up an all matching, original finish, non-import marked, non Russian capture, BYF-43 Mauser at the gun show last weekend. The serial number is on the bottom of the stock, in the stock channel, and the hand guard as well. It also has the letters NH over M on the stock. Any ideas of what those letters indicate?

    Thanks
    Pat

Taking a guess as M means Navy. Possibly a Kriegsmarine? SWAG!

I believe those markings were applied post war and likely have no military meaning.

As I said on another board - the stock markings are definately post war, most likely Yougoslav.
