    Garrison Cap Piping

I was in the infantry (airborne) in 1960 but can't remember whether the piping on my dress uniform garrison cap was blue or not. Does anybody know?

    Maybe.

The Army Green Uniform did away with branch piping. It:

-Was adopted on 2 Sep 54
-Wasn't really available until Sep 1956
-Didn't become part of the clothing bag until late 1957
-Didn't become mandatory until Sep 1961

So it would depend on where you fell in those windows.

My older brother graduated from high school in 1957. My mother complained about having to sew on piping for his ROTC overseas cap and was relieved when I joined High school ROTC in '64 it was no longer required. We had the green hats with black piping.

When I enlisted in 1967 it was dark green for EM, black and gold for officers and Wos.
