Help me ID this item PLEASE!

I have had this for some time and cannot figure out what it is. The person who gave it to me said it was a case for machine gun mags, but that person is not into guns, and I think they are wrong. It is made of very thick leather. It has a metal frame inside that divides it into for rectangular compartments and is padded at the bottom. It has no markings on it at all that I can find. Any ideas?

I would think it is a case for Machine gun magazines. I have a similar case for my Bren gun magazines, but no idea what gun your case is for.

It looks Swiss or Swedish to me.

If memory serves Swedish 6.5x55mm BAR Mags were curved vs straight. So are Schweitzer Solothurn mags(I think).

      Anyway that's MY SWAG !

Swiss or Swedish, possibly Danish for a Madsen.Look closely for any marks or stampings on the leather.

Madsen would be my guess. Seem to recall seeing one like that for Madsen mgs.

Well, got to say, you guys are good. I looked up the name you gave me (Madsen), and found pictures of the MG in use, and the gunner had the exact same case. Many thanks!!

By the way, what would one of these sell for? I really don't need it and would like to sell it.

Only Ebay or Gunbroker can tell you that in a broad sense. Do a search and watch any you find listed. See what they sell for. You need to watch a few though as "buy it now" prices are amazingly unreliable as price guides, and auctions may go very high or very low for no apparent reason.

I own firearms not to fight against my government, but to ensure I will not have to.

All of what you say is true, but my problem is that I can't find one of these for sale on Ebay or Gunbroker. I guess I will have keep looking for one to show up and see what it goes for.

There was a period of time several years ago that a lot of Danish,Swedish,Swiss militaria like this came in,there is a lot of it floating around.IMA at one time had a lot of it,they were selling that pouch w/magazines for $125.The pouch by itself I would guess in the $30 + or - range. There are not a lot of Madsen collectors around.
