Thanks guys,I alternate the mags with the tall end to the left and one to the right in each pouch to make closing the snap a little easier.

When I was in the Marines we were always taught brass down. That way water wouldn't collect in mags, and it generally kept the mags cleaner and less prone to jamming. We were also taught if we expended a mag and kept onto it, to turn it up. That way you could open your pouch and tell what mags were loaded and which ones were empty by feel.

I used a BAR belt in VN. 4 20 rnd mags per pouch.
Only way is open end down-you grab the tabs you have made from 100 mph tape and withdraw and immediately insert.
Pulling out a upright mag means you got to fumble around turning it to insert it.
During this fumbling about you will be killed.

Ya'll couldn't tell loaded from not by the weight? And no mag is water tight. CF troopies just know that stuff. snicker.
Anyway, if the mag is down your natural hand motion will have the mag pointed the right way to go in the rifle/LMG.
