Brass hat emblem with screw-type fastener. Is this WWi or WWII? Also, is it for enlisted or officers?

The uniform regulations of 1912 authorized the wear of this enlisted ornament on the service cap. The 1912 regulations eliminated the wear of branch insignia on the service hat and nothing was worn, except the hat cord, until the authorization to wear distinctive insignia in the 1920s.Comment
