'97 Project Gun?

I've had this Winchester '97 receiver section kicking around for a number of years and finally dug it out.
I have a trench and want a riot, also.

I originally thought it was from a riot gun, but then noticed the magazine tube plug.
Looks to have had some markings scrubbed from left side, in the position where a PD would have had it marked?
US, but no ordnance bomb on left side.

If I build it, it would have to be parkerized, which is fine. I already have extra original 4 and 6 hole parkerized heat shields, but would rather build it as an arsenal rebuild riot. I fully realize it will never be correct.

Any thoughts on how best to accomplish this? Or even worth the trouble.

its junk, just put it in a box and send to me. honestly, financially its probably not worth building it into anything (since when does that ever stop us), but could be a fun project to make into whatever you like, be it a riot gun or trench gun etc without the cash outlay of an actual riot/trench gun.
